What to Expect with a Same Day Smile: Your Questions, Answered
What to Expect When You Trust Us With Your Smile
Choosing dental implants is a life-changing decision—and at Premier Smile and Implant Center, we know how important it is to feel fully informed every step of the way. Dr. Ben Keller and our team are committed to providing compassionate care, precise results, and clear answers to your most pressing questions.
Here are a few of the most common questions we hear from patients considering a Same Day Smile—and what you can expect when you trust your smile to us:
Will I be awake for the procedure?
No. You'll be comfortably asleep during the implant procedure. One of the amazing benefits of our approach is that you go to sleep with your natural teeth—and wake up with your new smile already in place. No gaps, no uncomfortable waiting period. Our sedation techniques ensure you rest easy while we deliver your new smile.
How long do I have to go without teeth?
Minutes. At Premier Smile, you never have to leave without teeth. Using advanced digital technology and our in-house lab, we design and place your smile the same day as your procedure. You’ll leave our office with a beautiful set of fixed teeth that look natural and feel secure.
Do the teeth come out?
No. Your new teeth are permanently fixed in place. Unlike removable dentures, they are securely attached to dental implants and do not shift or pop out. They feel comfortable, take up less space than traditional dentures, and are easy to clean. You’ll care for them almost exactly like natural teeth.
Is it going to hurt?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised at how manageable the recovery is. The peak of inflammation usually occurs 48–72 hours after surgery, with most patients feeling 90% better by day four. Mild swelling, tenderness, and jaw stiffness are normal and easily managed with prescribed medications and home care instructions. Our team will walk you through exactly what to expect and will support you every step of the way.
Will there be more appointments after surgery?
Yes—and they’re an important part of perfecting your new smile. After surgery, you’ll have a follow-up appointment for an appearance check. We use this opportunity to digitally tweak and fine-tune your smile before milling your final permanent teeth. You'll wear your custom-designed temporary smile while healing—giving you time to get used to it and provide feedback. This workflow helps ensure you love your final smile.
